Glitterball 2015
Our 8th Glitterball was a fantastic night. After concerns about the low numbers (the lowest we’ve had for a Gitterball) we were encouraged that this year we had the highest percentage of un-churched young people we’ve ever had (82%) so it was all systems go as 25 volunteers from 10 different churches across the borough worked tirelessly to give the 17 young people a night to remember. Only two of them have ever been to a Glitterball before but they’re now the new generation of fans – they wanted to know if we do it every year and can they bring friends next year!. With a three course meal followed by some familiar tunes and Christmas classics from DJ Squeakyclean; a “live-lounge” set beautifully performed by Beth Hayden (ex Unite Usquad leader and Taste singer from Lowestoft), Happi, the headline rapper had everyone on their feet with some excellent lyrics and his spoken testimony of how Jesus saved him in the midst of a period in his life when he was heading towards the gang culture of his hometown. Special thanks to Jack Gray from Ormesby Baptist church who serves us faithfully every year as our technical expert, plus Lynda from Cliff Park Community Church taking on the task of feeding these young people in the absence of our usual catering team. Praise God for his faithful protection over us and His provision of all that we need to give this experience to the young people of Gt Yarmouth. It couldn’t have happened without Mark, Anna, Suzanne, Eddie, Olivia, Grace, Theo, Nigel Lawrence, Nigel Parrott, Saskia, Matt, Ruth, Claire, Yan, Angel, Sadie, John, Louise, Beth, Rachel, Trish, Nick, Jenny, Ray, Sandra, Jean and Dan.
